The Hermitage, Pinecone Viewpoint If you're visiting the Hermitage and want to escape the crowds, why not go for a wee walk up to the pinecone viewpoint. It's about 30-40 min away from the Hermitage car park and you are blessed with wonderful views of the A9 looking north! Another one where @maryannepugh_ had to drag me down since it was so nice I did not want to leave! What do you think? Comment below! The Hermitage Here's another photo from the Hermitage. What do you do when you don't have a tripod with you? The Hermitage Obligatory Hermitage stop for them awesome autumn colours. Quite lucky to have been there rigth after a decent amount of rain. The waterfalls were ROARING! Although it was very busy down there (was quite lucky to get this shot), a lot of people missed the good part. Can you have a guess at what it is? Hint: acorn. Comment down below! The Hermitage Funnily enough, we had no idea how popular this place would be in autumn. We saw why! The whole place was covered in wonderful autuman colours. I just found it difficult to get good compositions. What would you suggest when shooting in the woods? In this case, it definitely helped having a beautiful model hehe! Loch Kinord Panorama Here's one more shot from Loch Kinord, this time a nice wee panorama of one of its shores showing off its autumn colours in the beautiful sunset light! Loch Kinord This is a small fresh water loch just a few miles away from Ballater. It's about a mile long and is formed in a glacier kettle hole. What's more important is that during autumn, the surrounding areas are an absolute colourfest! What do you think? Leave a comment down below! Coosday Well, just because they aren't highland cows, doesn't mean they are not fit for a Tuesday Coosday! I tried getting close to these cuties but their mothers were either very friendly/inquisitive or very protective. I didn't want to find out so I kept a distance! They are very sweet though! Cars & Coffee Here's a little something different. Scotland is a beautiful place, fantastic for its scenery and culture and the keen photographer is spoiled for choice when it comes to nature photography! One of the best ways to explore it is by car and, as many of you may know, I am quite the car guy. So when I saw that @modern_classics_cc were doing a cars and coffee nearby, I had to pack my camera and visit! Here are some of my favorite shots I took! Swipe away to see them! Loch Kinord Well, not quite haha! Just a little pond on the side of the path that takes you to the loch! The whole area is labelled Scottish Natural Heritage on Google Maps and as you can see, it's quite a beautiful place, especially in autumn colours and delicious sunset light! I've been using a preset I created for autumn looking photos lately, to make the reds, oranges and yellows pop, as well as mute the greens and give my images a more autumnal look. It needs tweeking with every image, as there would be different lighting conditions for each shot! Let me know what you think down below! Do you like it? Is it too much? Loch Kinord Apologies for not posting yesterday! Sometimes, being there for family is more important than a post! But now that we are back on track, I'd like to introduce you to our next series of autumn shots from Loch Kinord, in the Cairngorms! The Brave Ram When we were coming back to the @themhorcollection from our little walk to the Lookout, we saw a group of sheep running scared in circles around the little fenced area in front of the hotel. A wee doggo was barking away on the other side of the fence causing the sheep to run for dear life. One brave ram, however, rose above his peers and challenged the measly mut with a stirn stare! Motivation I don't know why, but while looking for my next photo to post, I saw this one and though it represents something significant to me. It's @maryannepugh_ and the Lookout at loch Voil/loch Doine on a typical miserable autumn day. Why are we out there? Maryanne saw a photo of it on a Facebook group and thought it would be interesting to see. In reality, yes, it's interesting, but it's just a weird polished stainless steel box in the middle of nowhere. It's interesting enough on its own, but what made that day special, was the company and the memories we created while travelling to and visiting this random place in Scotland - which, for the majority of the time, can summarise any of our weekend trips. So don't just not do anything, not go out, simply because "there aren't any interesting places to go to". If you want to travel, you can just get in your car (if you're lucky), or hop on a train and create memories! Even if it's just to a McDonalds in a different town! Comment below with your thoughts! Loch Doine Swipe↔️ Probably not the most ideal conditions water wise, as it wasn't perfectly still, but I still walked away with a decent set of shots from the Lookout. This was the Loch Doine side and I took 3 portraits shots and stitched them together in post to make for a mahoosive file and an awesome wallapper. Let me know what you think down below, as always! The Lookout, Loch Voil Right well, couldn't help but be a bit playful here haha! A bit tongue in cheek, playing with the reflections at The Lookout, featuring the stunning @maryannepugh_ ! The Lookout, Loch Voil Here's another angle from the Lookout, Loch Voil. Because of its mirror finish, it seems to appear out of nowhere. It's kinda hard to spot it from a distance as it blends in quite nicely. In a way, it kinda reminds of the cloak used by the Alien in Alien vs Predator. Let me know if you get it haha! The Lookout Well, here it is, The Lookout, Loch Voil. It's a mirrored cabin, built out of wood and polished stainless steel and it has benches built in so you can sit in and admire the beautiful views around you! It's located right between Loch Voil and Loch Doine. To get to it is relatively straight forward. Just drive to @themhorcollection and park in their visitor car park and then make your way through the field to the Lookout. Be aware of sheep. If you look closely, you will see some dents in the lower part of the structure, where I presume a certain ram met his arch nemesis, who for some reason, would mimic every single thing he would do. Undoubtedly, heads have been butted and egos bruised! Safe to say, @maryannepugh_ had to drag me back to the car as it was just so peaceful and poetic. I could have stayed there forever, just looking in the distance at the loch! Wouldn't you? Drop a comment! Loch Voil A nice moody autumn shot from the little slice of land that separates Loch Voil and Loch Doine! I know I'm teasing, but I'll post a photo of the actual "Look Out" on my next post. Though I'd share this one too as it seemed very picturesque! Let me know what your thoughts are below! Also, slight correction fro yesterday's post: that wee cabin is actually a fire hut, no room for a bed! Still would make for an amazing night during weather like this! I can only imagine how beautiful it must be during winter when it's all snowed in! The Lookout A few weeks ago we went to an interesting place at Loch Voil, called the Look Out! We parked at Monachyle Mhor Hotel and could not help but admire this beautiful hut they had outside of their main quarters. What do you think? Would you stay there for a night or two? Happy Coosday! Feels like we haven't had one of these beauties in a while! On a recent drive alongside the Argyll and Bute Coastal Route, we happened to stop at a place called Arduaine Garden where we could see towards Luing and Lunga.
