Sunshine Blogger Award

Recently, I’ve had the honour of being nominated for a Sunshine Blogger Award by my lovely partner, Nanny Maryanne. I cannot thank her enough for including me in this and for giving me an opportunity to show you guys a more about me. If you are ever in need of tips and tricks about caring for your newborn/young children, she is the one person to go to, so please feel free to visit her blog!

So what is it?

Sunshine Blogger Award

It is a method of recognizing a fellow blogger’s creativity and work and it is given from blogger to blogger to promote positivity and inspiration. It also serves to show followers a more intimate insight into a bloggers life, basically give the articles you read a more human presence. With this in mind, let’s have a go through the questions that Nanny Maryanne asked me and see how I can answer them!

  • Why did you begin blogging?

I always wanted to have my own little business and to escape the 9-5 bonanza. I never really knew what that would be until I had a long sit down with myself (and by long, I mean probably almost a year). I made a list of things that I want from life, a list of things I am good at and a list of things I love doing. I want to be free, make my own hours and not think of work as work. I am relatively good at writing, photography and know anything there is to know about cars. I really love driving cars, taking photographs and exploring places, especially Scotland. So, with an unmeasurable amount of support from my partner, I bit the bullet and incorporated My Saturday Drive as a blog on the 24th of September 2018!

  • What do you think is most important in life?
My Saturday Drive Driving

I think the most important thing in life is your point of origin, YOU! I understand how this may sound selfish/self-centered, but hear me out. What makes you, you? I think every person needs to sit down with themselves and have a hard think about what they truly want from life and what makes them THEM. Every person needs to focus on learning how to become the best version of themselves. Every person needs to learn how to love themselves. Have yourself sorted out, and everything else will fall into place: your love life, your friends and family, your career, your wealth! There is a great book I cannot recommend enough, written by Dr. Sean Stephenson, which I encourage everyone to read if they want to better themselves. It is called Get Off Your “But”.

  • Can you think of a time you laughed until your stomach was sore? What was it?

For our own entertainment, Maryanne and I like to film ourselves, from time to time, using Snapchat filters. And this one time, I looked very funny! See below!

Me, yes, socks and slippers!
  • Can you name the first childhood memory that you remember?

It so happens I already answered this question on my About page. Basically, the earliest childhood memory I have is of me getting to “drive” my uncles car! He sat me on his lap and operated the acceleration and gears and gave me the steering wheel. It was the most amazing feeling in the world and I can remember it vividly, even to this date!

  • What was the best practical joke that you played on someone or that they played on you?

I don’t know whether it qualifies as a joke, but the closest I had ever had was my partner, Maryanne hiding in a broom closet while I was in the bathroom. When I got out I think I spent a good 20 minutes looking for her!

  • What was cool when you were young but isn’t cool now?

Anything noughties, I guess! What I used to do when I was young was use hair gel and hair spray to make my hair spiky! That was considered cool back then. I doubt it is now! Go on then, have a wee laugh! Need I remind you that you would wear extra-large baggy jeans and extra-large jersey t shirts and listen to Eminem?

  • What is it that you find most appealing about the person you are attracted to?

Well, I guess I had this kind of question coming, given I was nominated by my own partner! Without being too cheesy, it was Maryanne’s eyes that sold it for me! No matter how I feel, all I need to do is look into her eyes and I will instantly feel better!

  • What has been your most embarrassing memory in your life so far?

Besides driving and photography, I am also passionate about a sport called Olympic Weightlifting. I train with a team in Glasgow called Team Cavanagh. Check us out on Facebook! Probably the most embarrassing thing was when I was squatting one day, my trousers decided to burst right at the back right as the music stopped on the loudspeaker! I laughed it off, but the ego never recovered!

  • What’s the most annoying noise?

Neighbors playing loud techno at 3 am, am I right?

  • If money and practicality weren’t a problem, what would be the most interesting way to get around town?

Flying. How cool would it be if you could just hop in your car and woosh away to your destination?!

So there you have it! Hope you guys learned something about me. Stick around for more travel blogs and photography around Scotland. We have a trip to Isle of Skye soon and will be releasing a blog post about it!

In the meantime, I would like to nominate 3 of my favorite Scottish bloggers for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Shetland Adventure, Ronna McMillan and Rambling Scotland, hope you guys would love to answer these questions:
